Mr. Eduardo Fernandez
Headmaster

Eduardo Fernandez is the Headmaster of Chesterton Academy of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. He also teaches studio art and theology. Mr. Fernandez was born in Havana, Cuba, grew up in New Jersey, and moved to Portland in 1991. He is happily married to his wife Alice and lives in NE Portland where they are parishioners at Holy Rosary Church. Prior to becoming a professional artist, Mr. Fernandez worked in the medical field. He is a graduate of Rutgers University, attended Classical Atelier of Juliette Aristides at Gage Academy in Seattle, and began teaching career in 2008. In his spare time Mr. Fernandez enjoys hiking, playing guitar and is currently building a sailboat.

  • Thomas Klemz, Humanities & Latin

    Mr. Thomas Klemz is a recent convert from Reformed Protestantism, drawn by Our Lady of Sorrows to the Eucharist and informed by the writings of Chesterton and the Church Fathers, especially of the East. A software engineer for over a decade, he became disenchanted with the all-consuming greed found in Silicon Valley and gave all that up to learn and teach the faith in any way he can.

  • Sarah Luty, Math & Science

    Miss Sarah Luty is a life-long Catholic who was born and raised in Oregon. She graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. In college, Miss Luty enjoyed being a part of EOU’s Chemistry Club where she did outreach to middle and high school students to encourage interest in STEM. She is passionate about promoting both Faith and Science and has a love for St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Miss Luty enjoys reading, crafting, and being outdoors hiking and skiing with her family.

  • Ambrose Robinson, Humanities & Music

    Philosopher by training, writer and musician by calling, Mr. Ambrose Robinson has always had a passion for both beauty and faith. He sees it as his vocation in life to glorify God and bring the healing light of Truth through the arts. Mr. Robinson graduated in 2017 from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. A strong devotee of the Immaculate Heart, Mr. Robinson dedicates everything he does to Christ’s Blessed Mother and strives to live constantly beneath her mantle. His favorite thing to do is to write hymns and mediations on the Holy Family and the Blessed Sacrament.

  • Nicole Scofield, Drama

    Miss Nicole Scofield calls herself a jack-of-all-trades, which she considers an apt definition for one seeking to abandon herself more fully to the Father's Providence. Her wandering path has included working as a stage manager for St. Luke Productions, a freelance writer, and head of her own theatre ministry known as Teleios Traveling Theatre. She has a B.A. in drama from Franciscan University of Steubenville and an M.S. in psychology from Divine Mercy University. She also teaches Latin at the hybrid-homeschool Regina Caeli Academy.
