Chesterton Academy of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati

Chesterton Academy Frassati is the newest high school to open in the Portland metro area, opening its doors in fall, 2022. We are a one-of-a-kind-in-Portland classical high school in the Catholic tradition.

Although we are a new school, Chesterton Academy Frassati is part of a network of nearly 50 Chesterton schools in the United States and other countries including our sister school in Mt. Angel, G.K. Chesterton Academy of the Willamette Valley. Another sister school, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, has created this video which gives insight into how Chesterton Schools run–a truly joyful education. The Chesterton Schools Network has been in the spotlight recently and for good reason. Its mission of rigorous academics using the great books, character development, and training in the Catholic faith is just what our young people and our country need.

Here is a bit more about our mission, straight from the Chesterton Schools Network:

Catholicism is central to our mission. For this reason, every school day begins with Mass. We teach theology out of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and papal documents. Other important ways we live the faith include annual pilgrimages and retreats, modest and wholesome extracurricular activities, and sacred art and crucifixes adorn the halls and the classrooms. Furthermore, our teachers take a public oath of fidelity to the Magisterium. Finally, we are ardently and unashamedly pro-life in all manifestations of that creed. It is an authentic and energetic Catholic environment.

We are currently located in Aquinas Hall at Holy Rosary Parish in Portland, where we are touching the souls of our students and really spreading light and joy in the heart of Portland.

In picturing Portland, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t necessarily a group of scholarly, devout, and joyful teenagers–dressed in their school uniforms, girls wearing sweaters and knee-length skirts, boys wearing blazers and ties–pouring out of their school building to cross the street to head into the church for Mass. But that is exactly what Chesterton Academy Frassati students do every schoolday at noon.

Like our namesake Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati who was an inspiration to many including St. John Paul II for his work with youth, our school aims to cultivate leaders, inspire scholars in the classical tradition, and foster joyful saints rooted in the truths of the Catholic faith.

It is our mission to provide this type of education to as many families as possible who seek it. That is why our tuition for the 2022-23 academic year is just $7,500 plus books and fees, less than half that of other Portland-area private high schools. Our benefactors help bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of providing this type of education.
