Our Parental Journey in Catholic Education to Chesterton Academy
Faith. It’s starts with Pre-Kindergarten, do we want morning or afternoon class? Should we do five days or two? Can I manage nap times with pick ups? Should I do a Pre-K class at home? So many questions you think it’s just for one year. We now realize God has a sense of humor. The questions for our child’s education don’t stop at age four.
Hope. Can we afford Catholic education for one child? Would we be able to continue with each child as our family grew? For us, we knew it was imperative for formation away from the family and to learn in a Catholic school community. It was more than just reading, writing and math. It was a Christ centered education.
Trust. The Fruits of the Holy Spirit filled their lives while at school and brought it into our family. As their faith and knowledge grew, so did ours as parents. Our family began praying and learning together. By trusting in God’s Will it became four children and the sacrifices became easier to be able to attend Catholic School. This was the right decision.
Discernment. Building off of the Catholic School education received in Vancouver, it’s now time to search for the best option that will suit each individual child in the the High School years. We are seeking to solidify their educational foundation, ensure they are challenged academically, but also learn to search for the true, good and beautiful in their daily lives.
Apostolic. It is exciting Chesterton Academy of St. Anthony of Padua will provide an affordable exclamation point to the K-8 Catholic Education our children have received. As we seek to finalize our parental decisions in their lives, Chesterton Academy appeals to us and our oldest child. We are encouraged by the continuation of uniforms in order to keep centered on academics. We support the studying the classics before approaching the modern era. We agree with Chesterton’s methods of teaching how to think, not what to think. We are happy it will be rooted in Catholic tradition all the while having the typical High School life of sports, friends and social gatherings. We look forward to Chesterton’s goal of producing effective and virtuous leaders for today’s world.
Thanksgiving. Having local Catholic school communities that fill our family’s educational needs is a blessing. Discovering Chesterton Academy of St. Anthony of Padua will be available in the Vancouver area is an exciting movement towards the continuation of providing strong and diverse Catholic educational opportunities for all families to consider.
We look forward to meeting other students and families who are also intrigued with Chesterton Academy of St. Anthony of Padua and see it as an answered prayer for their students future before they leave the family nest.
